Dorchester Plan for New England Revolution Soccer Stadium All But Dead, Report Says
The latest proposal to bring the team to Boston has fallen through.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — Like several before it, the latest plan to move the New England Revolution to Boston has practically bitten the dust.
Shirley Leung of the Boston Globe reports that after a year of talks, the Revs will not build a stadium at the site of the former Bayside Expo Center in Dorchester. The University of Massachusetts currently owns the land.
Needing 10 acres of land for a $250 million stadium with seating for 20,000 to 25,000 fans, the project would have required the Boston Teacher's Union to vacate their 2.7 acres of property adjacent the site, but the union wanted $17.5 million from club owner Robert Kraft. Relocation and rebuilding costs for the union would have brought the deal up to $30 million, Leung repored.

Upgrades to Kosciuszko Circle and the JFK/UMass MBTA station would have also been needed.
For now, Revolution will remain at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. During the 2017 season, the team will be one of six not playing in a stadium built exclusively for soccer, although Atlanta United's Mercedes-Benz Stadium was built with MLS and the NFL in mind, Minnesota United has plans to play at TCF Bank Stadium until their stadium is build, and DC United is moving forward with plans for a new stadium.
