Emergency Response Training In Foxborough: Expect To See Military

FOXBOROUGH —If you hear sirens or see military trucks and helicopters in town, police said there's no emergency going on, just training.

The Massachusetts National Guard on Nov. 6 is hosting "Vigilant Guard 19-1," a full scale-civil military exercise at Gillette Stadium. The Foxborough Police Department,Fire Department, and Massachusetts State Police will be in the P-10 parking lots that day participating in the training.

Vigilant Guard is sponsored by U.S. Northern Command and trains local, state, and federal agencies, National Guard units, and private sector partners on how to improve emergency response plans.

The training is one of several happening between Nov. 5-9 at various locations throughout the state. In total, 46 federal, state, local and civilian organizations are participating.

“Together, we provide the capabilities to save lives, protect property and the environment, and meet basic human needs after an incident has occurred,” said Maj. Gen. Gary W. Keefe, The Adjutant General, Massachusetts National Guard. “Vigilant Guard is a rare training opportunity that greatly supports everyone – both participants and the citizens we serve.”
