Foxborough American Legion and VFW Buildings for Sale

A merger involving the two groups has also been discussed.

In the midst of declining membership across the nation, the buildings for the Foxborough branches of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars are both on the market.

A “for sale” sign currently sits outside the Mechanic Street location of the American Legion while the private owner of the VFW on Cohasset Street told the Foxboro Reporter that the building is for sale.

With returning soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan not choosing to join, both organizations are seeing a decrease in numbers. There have been discussions of the two groups merging over the years, but Legion commander Paul Dumas said it’s too early to say where thing are heading.

Dumas added that they are testing the market value of the property, confirming that the proceeds from the sale could be used to buy the VFW property for both groups to use.
