FOXBOROUGH, MA — It's still a few months away, but the Foxborough boys' basketball team is getting ready for a trip to Disney World. This visit, however, will involve more than a ride on Space Mountain and a spin in the teacups.

Monday night, the school committee approved the trip, which will see the teams compete in an eight-school tournament during the 2017 holiday season. The tournament will take place between Christmas and New Year's Day.

Head coach Jon Gibbs told the committee that both teams will get to play three games against other teams from across the country.

"It would be a really great chance for some team building, get the boys excited about being in the program, and create some memories with their teammates," Gibbs said.

The team last went to Disney in 2012 and played the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence last season.

None of the trip will be funded by the school district, with at least half of the funds coming from the booster club and their golf tournaments. Other fundraisers are being planned, Gibbs said.
