Foxborough Hires New Assistant Town Manager
Mary Beth Bernard will start her new job as the assistant town manager on Oct. 6.

After over 100 applicants, 23 phone interviews, 14 in-person interviews, and four finalists, Foxborough has a new assistant town manager.
Getting introduced to the selectmen at the Sept. 9 meeting, Weswood’s human resources director Mary Beth Bernard will start her new job in Foxborough on Oct. 6.
“I feel that I possess the leadership skills, expertise and diversity of experience to take on this challenge and make an immediate and positive impact on Foxboro’s executive management team,” Bernard wrote in her cover letter to her July 7 application according to the Sun Chronicle.

In addition to her nearly 11 years as the HR director in Westwood, she has also served on several building committees and helped with special topic studies such as heath insurance reform and addressing the town’s OPEB liability.
She is also a member of Westwood’s executive leadership team and has experience in the private sector including time as the manager of corporate programs at Babson College and as personnel manager at Calvert’s, a clothing store in Needham.

Recently, Bernard became one of only five professionals in every town in the state in senior human resources to complete Suffolk University’s graduate program in municipal leadership with highest honors. She also holds a degree in public service from UMass Boston.
