Foxborough Schools Could Start in August

The school committee recently discussed two possible start dates for the 2016-17 school year.

The Foxborough School Committee will soon decide if students in Foxborough will head back to class the day after Labor Day or in August.

Those were the two options given by Superintendent Debra Spinelli at a recent school committee meeting. While the vote will not take place until the second January meeting, some members were not keen on the early start.

“Looking at Aug. 30 just hurts, I’m sorry,” committee member Tina Belanger said according to the Sun Chronicle. “It seems very early to me.”

The possible start in August is due to another late Labor Day, which is on Sept. 5.

Committee member Beverly Lord backed the early start, noting that she knows June too well after teaching at Foxborough High School for 33 years.
