Foxborough Selectman Wins Super Bowl Bet With Georgia City

This week, the mayor of Flowery Branch, Georgia will have to wear a Tom Brady jersey.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — No one in Foxborough was probably more relieved by the New England Patriots' Super Bowl comeback than selectmen Chairman David Feldman.

As a result of the team winning their fifth championship, Feldman will not have to wear an Atlanta Falcons jersey, per the terms of a bet with Flowery Branch, Georgia Mayor Mike Miller. Instead, Miller will wear a Patriots jersey at a city council meeting this week.

"The mayor of Flowery Branch, Georgia received a Tom Brady jersey so he will wear that at a city council meeting on Feb. 16 and he will feel what it's like to be a champion," Feldman said at last week's selectmen meeting.

While the Falcons play in Atlanta, their administrative office is located in Flowery Branch. Prior to the Super Bowl, Feldman and Miller made a bet agreeing to wear the other city's team's jersey if their home team lost. The two community also had a friendly exchange of local goods, with Foxborough receiving packs of Wrigley gum, which is manufactured in the Georgia community.

Foxborough is hoping to post photos of Miller in his new jersey shortly after this week's meeting.
