Foxborough Superintendent Gets High Marks in Evaluation

Entering her fourth year as superintendent of the Foxborough Public Schools, Debra Spinelli once again received high marks during her yearly evaluation by the Foxboro School Committee.

Spinelli was rated as exemplary in multiple categories including instructional leadership, family, and community engagement. In management and operations, she was rated as proficient.

Starting the first year of a new three-year deal, it should come as no surprise that Spinelli’s yearly evaluation by the school committee only resulted in positive praise and compliments from the board.

Vice-chair Tina Belanger commented that Spinelli was not someone who remains in her office, but rather has a noticeable public presence in the community.

“You don’t lead from the office. You go to the schools, you meet the kids, you go to all the events,” Belanger said.

Stephen Udden, who was unable to participate in the evaluation due to a personal matter, was satisfied with the end result.

“The spirit and the outcome are right where I wanted them to be. I see Deb all over the place putting in a lot of hours not in community outreach but as a member as our community. I think that Deb in her role fits in,” Udden said.

Committee Chair Bruce Gardner focused on the team Spinelli has put together.

“I am so proud of the job you have done building organizational capacity,” Gardner said. “It’s one of those things that the parents don’t get to see but if you look at your focus and care and how you’ve done that, I think that will be your legacy.”
