Gronkowski In Hot Water For Suggestive Remark To Female Reporter

Some were questioning whether the Patriot tight end's sophomoric sense of humor crossed a line this week.

Rob Gronkowski usually gets a few chuckles for his sophomoric humor while speaking to the press, but Monday night he prompted a few head-shakes. The Patriots tight end is facing backlash after making a sexually suggestive remark to a female reporter in Atlanta during Super Bowl media day.

When Gronkowski was asked if he will he return next season or retire after the Super Bowl, he went back to his favorite joke - one he maybe should have left in Foxborough.

"You guys know my favorite number. You know what I’m talking about. She knows what number I’m talking about," Gronkowski said as he pointed to a female reporter. "Ask her. That’s the answer."

Gronkowski, who once made a big deal about catching his 69th career touchdown pass and another time said he'd pay $69,000 to wear No. 69, tried to spell things out with math.

"I’ll give you a math problem: What’s six times nine plus six plus nine?” he asked.

The 29-year-old tight end took some national heat for the remarks, as well a joke he made on live television to NFL analyst Michael Irvin that offended some.

The New York Post's headline said 'Rob Gronkowski left his filter behind at Super Bowl media day'. WFAN Radio in New York criticized Gronkowski's lack of professionalism.

"I don't care who it is," Chris Carlin said. "Do whatever you want, dude. Just don't be disrespectful in that setting."

"That one is a crossing the line," his co-host Maggie Gray said. "I think there has been a pass that's been given to Rob Gronkowski for a really long time. I think part of the pass that he gets comes with the fact he is doing this and really doesn't have anything in his past or in his private life that would indicate he actually has an issue. It just seems like an act."
