High School Football Championships Returning to Gillette Stadium

Six of the eight state title games will be played at the home of the New England Patriots.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — For the 10th year, the last games of the high school football season will be played in Foxborough.

The selectmen approved the application for the 2016 MIAA High School State Championships during a recent meeting. Six of the eight titles games are scheduled to take place at the home of the New England Patriots.

Stadium officials say that the parking lots and ticket office will open at 8 a.m., with the first game kicking off an hour later. The last game is scheduled for 8 p.m. with an expected end time of 9:30 p.m.

As usual, there will be no tailgating allowed and all the seating will be on the east side of the stadium, with a middle section to act as a divider between fans.

About 18,000 fans are expected during the day, with an average of 3,000 per game. Few fans are expected to stay for multiple games.

The MIAA High School Football State Championships will take place on Dec. 3.
