Lighting for Berns Community Field to be Donated

Lighting will come to Sam Berns Community Field thanks to a generous donation from a contractor in Norfolk.

Foxborough schools Business Manager Bill Yukna recently told the school committee that Island Lighting & Power Systems operator Jarrod O’Neil and his father will perform the work for the school, which is an estimated value of $35,000.

“As a local contractor who remembers Sam’s story well, we would be happy to just be a part of this field coming together in his name,” O’Neil said in a statement read by Yukna.

School Committee member Tina Belanger called the gesture an example of the influence Berns had in inspiring others with his heart and story.
