Lt. Governor Murray to Discuss Regionalization During Municipal Cabinet Visit

Lieutenant Governor Murray to Discuss Regionalization During Municipal Cabinet Visit in Walpole Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 10:30am.

As part of a month-long series, Lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray will discuss the state’s efforts to encourage regionalization and highlight best practices in regions across the Commonwealth Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 10:30am. The meeting will take place at the Walpole Town Hall.

In the Fiscal Year 2012 budget, Governor Patrick authorized the development of a competitive grant program to encourage and incentivize regionalization based upon the belief that the most crucial and visible interactions between government and citizen occur locally.

A grant program was proposed in the Governor’s budget, and supported by the Legislature, providing $4 million for regionalization and other initiatives that will improve the effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery of local services.  Tuesday’s visit in Walpole is one of five meetings that Lt. Governor Murray will lead on behalf of the Municipal Affairs Coordinating Cabinet. The Cabinet has held 30 previous meetings across the state since 2007.
