Marijuana Dispensary Forum Planned for this Week

Residents are invited to attend the forum on a proposed Foxborough dispensary Wednesday night at the Boyden Library.

Beacon Compassion Center, which hopes to open a marijuana dispensary at the corner of Route 1 and North Street, will hold a community forum this week in Foxborough.

Residents are invited to attend the meeting this Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Boyden Library. Light refreshments will be served.

Details of the plan for the dispensary were made public when the group appeared in front of the selectmen in July. During an August meeting, the board made their intent clear to explore their options before making a decision on the proposal.

According to state law, the selectmen must either give the applicant an endorsement of non-opposition for the licensing process to continue. If the selectmen take no action, a license cannot be issued.

Currently, a dispensary in Salem remains the only open medical marijuana business in the state.
