Martellus Bennett Leaving New England Patriots
The soon-to-be former New England Patriots tight end made the announcement on Twitter Wednesday night.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — After one season in Foxborough, Martellus Bennett is saying goodbye to the New England Patriots.
The tight end announced Wednesday night that, as expected, he will not be returning for the 2017 season. Bennett signed with New England last year after three seasons with the Chicago Bears.
"'I'm going to miss you Mass-Holes. T'was Fun. Thank you for the good times. To infinity and beyond...," Bennett wrote on Twitter.

Reports leading up the start of free agency stated that Bennett was looking for a contract that would pay him $9 million per a year, a figure too high for the Patriots. With the report that the team traded for Indianapolis Colts tight end Dwayne Allen, Bennett's departure was all but certain.
Last season, Bennett caught 55 receptions for 701 yards and seven touchdowns.
