Video Released of Newest Patriot Passed Out at Wheel During DUI Arrest

Police say Michael Floyd's blood alcohol content level was .217.

New police bodycam footage shows a confused Patriots wide receiver Michael Floyd passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle and unsure of his location.

The footage, obtained by TMZ sports, shows what happened during the Dec. 12 incident that resulted in the then-Arizona Cardinals player getting arrested by Scottsdale police.

The 3-1/2-minute video starts behind Floyd's vehicle with the car not moving at an intersection. When officers approach his car, a forceful knock is needed to wake up an unconscious Floyd. After Floyd wakes up, he appears to be unable to follow police orders before he is removed from his vehicle by an officer.

At one point Floyd is asked why he is talking to an officer and replies "I have no idea why." Police told Floyd that his vehicle didn't move during two light cycles. He also struggled to answers a question about where he was.

After giving conflicting answers, he was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to obey a police officer, and reckless interference and obstruction of a highway or public through-way, according to the Scottsdale Police Department. Floyd's blood alcohol content level was .217, well above the legal limit of .08, police told ABC Arizona. If convicted of what Arizona law calls a "Super Extreme DUI," Floyd could face 45 days in jail.

The arrest was his second for drunken driving. The first came while he was at Notre Dame in 2011.

Floyd was released by the Cardinals the day after the arrest. Last Thursday, the Patriots signed the wide receiver. Addressing the arrest during his Friday press conference, Patriots coach Bill Belichick said "We’re aware of the situation that came up earlier in the week. We’ll let that legal situation play itself out, but really we’ll just see how it goes."

Wednesday morning, Belichick avoided questions about the video when asked if he knew the full extent of the situation and if he saw the video.

"We were aware of the situation before we claimed him. He’s in an ongoing legal situation that I’m not going to comment on," Belichick said to reporters.

Floyd didn't play in Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos but could make his New England debut Saturday against the New York Jets.
