New England Patriots File Brief Backing Brady Appeal

The team filed paperwork in court to support the quarterback.

FOXBOROUGH, MA - Tom Brady isn't backing off when it comes to his four-game suspension and that's ok with the New England Patriots.

The team filed an amicus brief asking the court the hear the appeal, which is an unsurprising sign of support from Brady's team of 16 years.

In the document, the Patriots said they have a "strong interest in the outcome," of the appeal.

"The punishment currently imposed upon Mr. Brady will leave the team without its All-Star quarterback for the first 25% of the 2016 regular season," the court document read.

Brady received a four-game suspension for his alleged role in the Deflategate saga and the Patriots were fined $1 million and stripped of two draft picks.

Brady has denied any wrongdoing. After the suspension, he appealed the ruling to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who upheld the suspension. In September, Judge Richard Berman vacated the suspension. The NFL promptly appealed the decision to the Second Circuit court in New York.

This year, the Second Circuit heard another appeal, this time by the league. The court ruled 2-1 in favor of the NFL and reinstated Brady's four-game suspension. Monday, Brady requested an en blac appeal from the Second Circuit court.
