New England Revolution Home Opener Postponed Due to Weather

A -1 windchill is too cold to play or watch soccer.

FOXBOROUGH, MA. – Put your supporter scarves and flags away, there will be no Revolution soccer in Foxborough this weekend.

Due to expected extreme weather Saturday, the New England Revolution's home opener against Orlando City SC has been moved to Sept. 2. The home opener will now take place March 25 against Minnesota United FC.

"All of us involved in this decision believe this is in the best interest of the fans, the players, and the game," Revolution President Brian Bilello said in a release. "We at the Revolution look forward to seeing all our fans at the Orlando game on Sept. 2."

The National Weather Service's forecast for Saturday calls for a high near 21 degrees and a windchill as low as -1. A west wind of 13-18 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph is also expected.
