Norfolk County Registry of Deeds Prints 33,000th Book

From the Norfolk Registry of Deeds:

Celebrating a significant milestone at the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds, Register William P. O’Donnell today announced the Registry recently completed printing its 33,000th book of recorded land documents.

“The printing of our 33,000th book is a testament to the volume of work completed day in and day out here at the Registry. While we continue to print books, we have also embraced cutting edge technology here at the Registry. Our state-of-the-art computer system allows us to record land documents instantaneously. Documents are scanned and available for viewing online within 24 business hours of recording via our web-based url www.norfolkdeeds.org. Because our computer network is so robust, we have the capability of recording documents off-site in the event of a disaster affecting our building at 649 High Street, Dedham. In addition, all land documents are microfilmed. All microfiche is shipped off-site and kept in a secure location available to be retrieved in the event a catastrophic event affects the Registry,” noted Register O’Donnell.

Residents and those with an interest in Norfolk County property are encouraged to visit the Registry of Deeds. Users of the Registry have the option to view land documents by whichever means they are comfortable, either hard copy via books or on-line by one of our many computer workstations available to the public.

Concluding his remarks, O’Donnell stated, “The Registry takes very seriously its obligation to serve as a depository for all land documents recorded in Norfolk County. While we have embraced technology and continue to investigate new technologies to improve efficiencies at the Registry, the printing of books allows us to keep a permanent record of each land document on-site while at the same time connecting us to our past.
