Officials: Investigation Still in Early Stages

A preliminary report is still 10-14 days away.

Federal investigators are expected to remain at the scene of a Plainville plane crash for a few more days.

Doug Brazy, an air safety investigator for the National Transportation Safety Board told reporters Monday afternoon that he and a team of four people will remain at the scene for 2-3 more days while determining the probable cause for the crash.

Speaking less than 24 hours after the crash, Brazy said they will be examining the plane, damage, and the home, calling the investigation young and broad.

On Sunday night, a plane from Pennsylvania crashed into a Plainville home on Bridle Path. An air traffic control tower attempted to guide the plane to Route 495 for an emergency landing.

Plainville Fire Chief Justin Alexander, who is an amateur pilot said he couldn’t speculate on the outcome if the plane made it to the highway but noted that factors such as traffic and power lines make an off-airport landing a dangerous situation.

The passengers inside the plane have been tentatively identified by the Norfolk County District Attorney’s office as Joseph Richard Kalister; his wife, Betty Kalister; and their teenage daughter, Nicole Kalister, all of Knoxville, Tenn.

Northeastern University said Nicole was scheduled to attend new student orientation this week according to WHDH.

Due to the nature of the crash, the medical examiner has accepted the case and will confirm the identities of the victims, according to the D.A.’s office.
