FOXBOROUGH, MA — Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots stood pat at the trade deadline, but that doesn't mean there isn't trade news continuing in Foxborough.

At least, that's what Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio tossed out during his Wednesday show.

To be clear, Florio didn't say this was a full-blown report, more of the start of a rumor that he heard from a source.

The crux of the idea is that the Washington Commanders, by trading away two pass rushers on expiring contacts, have signaled a plan for drastic change. What could be a more drastic shift for that franchise — which has been shrouded in turmoil since the beginning of the Dan Snyder era — than bringing in Bill Belichick?

Making things more interesting, the Patriots take on the Commanders on Sunday at 1 p.m. Could it be a first look for Belichick at the operation, or could it simply be another chance to right the ship for the Pats?

Josh McDaniels Out In Las Vegas

The one-time heir apparent in New England has once again been let go midseason by a team from the AFC West.

After a season and a half, Josh McDaniels is out as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, marking the end of his second head coaching stint.

Raiders owner Mark Davis told The Athletic on Thursday that the reason for the midseason change was simple: a lack of progress.

His oust made one rumor about a potential trade all the more interesting this week.

Patriots Continue Support For Lewiston

A week after 18 people were killed in shootings in Lewiston, Maine, the town is trying its best to resume a state of normalcy.

Police found Robert Card's body Friday night, ending a two-day manhunt that left Maine on edge following the mass shootings at a bowling alley and restaurant that also injured 13 people. Card — a firearms instructor and former military member — fatally shot himself, officials said.

The shooting wrecked the lives of many in Lewiston, but also forced the town to push pause on its annual high school football rivalry game.

That game was played on Wednesday, and Lewiston won by a mark of 34-18 over Edward Little of Auburn, Maine.

Ahead of the matchup, however, multiple members of the Patriots organization past and present reached out to both communities, including Robert Kraft, Mac Jones and Rob Gronkowski.
