Patch Patriots Roundup: Gilmore Returns, What To Know About The Colts
The Colts are down bad. Having already benched veteran QB Matt Ryan, they will be without star running back Jonathan Taylor on Sunday.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — Patriots fans who've been spending the last few weeks stressing about their — possibly made-up — quarterback controversy can breath a sigh of relief. The Colts are coming to town, and they have it worse.
Veteran quarterback Matt Ryan was traded in the offseason and eventually signed for a large sum of money. He proceeded to turn the football over as if it was his job to do so. Colts brass announced he had a shoulder injury that would see him miss some time, and then they added that, in fact, he'd be losing his job regardless of injury.
Yikes.

Now, Sam Ehlinger is under center for Indianapolis. He played fine in a 17-16 loss to the Washington Commanders, and the team now sits at 3-4-1.
Losing to the Commanders is bad. For starters, their team name is the Commanders, which is a travesty. Second, their owner is in a litany of trouble and the football world is celebrating news that he'll begin the process of selling the team.

Oh yeah, they also started a backup quarterback.
So the Colts aren't a great football team right now. This week should serve as an opportunity for Mac Jones to execute the proverbial "get right game" and put Zappe madness behind him for good.
Here's what to know ahead of kickoff.
Odds and Ends

Offensive Line Injuries
With David Andrews still absent from practice due to a concussion, NESN reports that another offensive lineman has yet to hit the practice field this week. Marcus Cannon started at right tackle the past two weeks, but missed Thursday with a concussion.
Andrews also has yet to practice this week, which could mean some new faces up front for the Pats.
Here's Thursday's injury report:
- C David Andrews — Concussion
- OT Marcus Cannon – Concussion
- RB Damien Harris – Illness
- WR DeVante Parker – Knee
As for the Colts, there's a chance that running back Jonathan Taylor misses the game, meaning Pats fans won't get the chance to see one of the most exciting players in football live.
Stephon Gilmore Returns
When Stephone Gilmore last suited up for the New England Patriots he was largely viewed as one of the top cornerbacks in all of football. Now with the Colts, Gilmore is set to square off against his old team.
He spoke with the Boston Herald this week about his time in New England:
“I had a lot of great games, a lot of accolades, and I got coached by a great coach,” Gilmore said in the interview. “(Patriots owner) Robert Kraft was great to me, too. It’s where I played some of my best ball. We won a lot there. So it was a great experience. It was a great place to play. There’s a great atmosphere there. And it’s a great opportunity for me to play there again. To me, it’s one of the best football cities in America.”
