Patriots Christian Barmore Has Arraignment Delayed Until After Super Bowl: Report
The charge stems from a reported incident that took place during the summer.
FOXBOROUGH, MA — New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore has had his arraignment date for a domestic assault charge postponed until after Super Bowl LX, according to a report from WCVB NewsCenter 5.
The arraignment is now scheduled for Monday, March 9 in Attleboro District Court. Originally, the court date was set for Tuesday, Feb. 3, five days before the big game in Santa Clara, California.
Barmore has been charged with one misdemeanor count of assault and battery on a family/household member from an occurrence on Friday, Aug. 8 at Barmore’s home in the town of Mansfield. The accuser, who was reportedly in a relationship with Barmore at the time, had her phone taken from her after the pair had gotten into a verbal altercation about the air conditioning temperature in the home as well as food according to documents. The documents then state that Barmore grabbed the woman and threw her onto the floor as she was trying to leave the house, followed by grabbing her by the shirt in the area of her neck as she tried to get back up before eventually letting her go. The altercation reportedly took place in front of the couple’s two-year-old child. The criminal complaint was first issued on Tuesday, Dec. 16. The request to delay the arraignment was made by his lawyer David Meier this past Friday prior to the AFC Championship game.
