Patriots Cornerback, Returner Cyrus Jones Out For Season: Report

The second-year cornerback is done for the year according to a report.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — The injury didn't look good when it happened and now the New England Patriots' worst fears have been confirmed, according to a new report.

An MRI has shown that cornerback Cyrus Jones suffered a torn ACL and partially torn meniscus during Thursday night's preseason finale against the New York Giants. He left the game during the second quarter after falling while defending a Giants receiver and needed help being taken off the field.

Jones, who was not going to spend much time in the secondary, was expected to be used as a kick returner. With Jones and Julian Edelman out, the team is now left with one regular returner in Danny Amendola. Last season, Dion Lewis was used on some kicks, but not punts.
