Patriots Named Sixth Most Valuable Sports Franchise in the World

Forbes Magazine Recently released the 2016 edition of their list of the 50 most sports valuable franchises.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — The New England Patriots are the sixth most valuable sports franchise in the world and the second most in the NFL, according to a new list.

Forbes Magazine recently released their list of the 50 most valuable teams of 2016, placing the Patriots at sixth with a value of $3.2 billion and a 23 percent increase over a year. The Dallas Cowboys took the top spot with a value of $4 billion.

Rounding out the top five were European soccer champions Real Madrid ($3.65 billion), FC Barcelona ($3.55 billion), the New York Yankees ($3.4 billion), and Manchester United ($3.32 billion).

Locally, the list includes the Boston Red Sox at No. 18 with a value of $2.3 billion and the Celtics at No. 22 with a value of $2.1 billion.
