Jamie Collins Trade: Patriots Stun With Blockbuster
Jamie Collins has been sent to Cleveland for a conditional draft pick.
FOXBOROUGH, MA — In what has been described as a shocking move, Jamie Collins is no longer a member of the New England Patriots.
The linebacker has been traded to the Cleveland Browns for a compensatory third-round pick, the Patriots confirmed. The story was originally reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Collins was drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft and picked up 291 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 10 forced fumbles and five interceptions during his time in New England. Through eight games this season, he had 43 combined tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and two interceptions.

Last season, he was selected to the Pro Bowl and named a second-team All-Pro.

Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reports that Collins turned down an offer of $11 million per year from the Patriots. The franchise tag is expected to be around $15 million.
