'Peace Out Boston': Jimmy Garoppolo Instagram Post Causes Chaos

But the post on the Patriots quarterback's account appears to have been a prank or hoax, according to multiple reports.

An overnight post on Instagram has created a lot of commotion, but it's reportedly nothing to get worked up over.

A post went out on Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's verified Instagram account in the early morning seeming to signify Tom Brady's backup was leaving the team. However, many outlets are reporting it was a prank or hoax, and that Garoppolo is still with New England.

"So grateful for my time in New England," the post reads. "Peace out Boston"

It's not clear whether the post came from Garoppolo or not. It had more than 31,000 likes since it went up after 4 a.m., but was removed this morning.

Garoppolo's status has been the hottest issue of the offseason. Soon-to-be 40-year-old Tom Brady looks like he still has some great years left in him, but Garoppolo has made it known he'd like to play and could leave the team as a free agent after this season.

The Patriots have a couple choices, but it essentially boils down to paying Garoppolo a lot of money in an effort to keep him happy as an insurance policy while he continues his career on the bench, or trade him to a rebuilding team like Cleveland for what would likely be a number of draft picks before he can leave for nothing in 2018.
