Phyllis L. Webber of Foxborough, Dedicated Community Member

Phyllis L. Webber, 94, of Putnam Road Foxborough, passed away Friday, June 10.

Phyllis L. Webber, 94, of Putnam Road Foxborough, passed away Friday, June 10 at the Caritas Norwood Hospital in Norwood. She was the former wife of the late Richard P. Webber.

Mrs. Webber has a long legacy in Foxborough. Born in New Bedford, her family later moved to Foxboro where she was raised and remained a lifelong resident. She graduated from Foxboro High School in 1934. 

She spent her life dedicted to education. She worked many years as a schoolteacher for the Massachusetts Teacher’s Association until her retirement in 1973.

Mrs. Webber also had a passion for giving back to the community. She was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church in Foxboro. She joined and sat on multiple committees including the Nominating Committee, Missionary Committee and Music Committee. She enjoyed singing and playing with the choir.

Mrs. Webber loved to volunteer at the Norwood Hospital and spent over 1500 hours doing volunteer work there.

She was also a member of the Hockomock Y.M.C.A. in North Attleboro, the Tri-County Christian Women’s Club and President and Board Member of the Foxboro Tenant’s Association.

Bird watching, gardens, music, and knitting were some of her favorite hobbies. She was also a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

Mrs. Webber leaves four children: Donna L. Dickerman of Foxboro, Karen L. Adams of Rockville, Connecticut, Cynthia J. Richendollar of Maine and Wayne A. Webber of Palm Harbor, Florida; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many cherished friends. She was the mother of the late Scott B. Webber and the sister of the late Roger M. Lawton and Norman F. Lawton.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., tomorrow at the First Baptist Church, Foxboro.

Burial will be in Rock Hill Cemetery, Foxboro.

Arrangements by Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, North Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Webber’s name may be made to the Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation, Inc., a registered 501 (c) (3) organization, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02760 to benefit the American Wheelchair Bowling Association.
