Rob Gronkowski Pokes Fun at Injury, Madden Curse in New Commercial
Is the Patriots tight end's appearance on the Madden cover to blame for his injury?

FOXBOROUGH, MA — Maybe things would have gone differently for Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski if he didn't appear on the cover of "Madden NFL 17," a game that seems to attract bad luck to anyone who appears on the box.
While sidelined with a back injury, Gronkowski is still having fun and recently filmed an commercial for the football video game poking fun at his injury and the curse.
After sitting down on his couch, he hears a voices that says "Do you think I did this to you Robert? You think this is my fault, don't you?" Turns out it was the game all along.

"Now we can win together Robert, forever," the robotic game voice says, before the two start scoring virtual touchdowns.
While an evil possessed video game didn't end Gronkowski's season, Madden cover athletes don't have a great track record. Examples include Drew Brees, who played the 2011 season with a hurt knee; Peyton Hillis' poor 2012 campaign; and most notably, Michael Vick, who suffered a fractured right fibula five days after "Madden NFL 2004" was released.
