Robert Kraft Worked up Over Brady Suspension, Calls Wells Report Unfair

The Patriots owner spoke for the first time publically to Peter King of Monday Morning QB.

In his first public comments since the release of the Wells Report, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft called the punishment aimed at the team and quarterback Tom Brady unfair and the allegations of deflated footballs an accusation without proof.

“I just get really worked up. To receive the harshest penalty in league history is just not fair. The anger and frustration with this process, to me, it wasn’t fair. If we’re giving all the power to the NFL and the office of the commissioner, this is something that can happen to all 32 teams,” Kraft told Peter King of Monday Morning QB. “We need to have fair and balanced investigating and reporting. But in this report, every inference went against us … inferences from ambiguous, circumstantial evidence all went against us. That’s the thing that really bothers me.”

When asked if he believed Brady when he said he was innocent, Kraft said he did.

The Patriots owner is still looking at his options to appeal the punishment levied towards Brady and the team, but issued no comment when he asked if he would take the league to court.

Last week, Brady was suspended for four games when the Wells Report concluded that it was more probable than not that two Patriots game day employees intentionally deflated footballs and Brady was aware. The team was fined $1 million and lost a first-round and fourth-round draft pick. The fine was the largest in NFL history.

The team has criticized the report for allegedly ignoring science to fit the conclusion and released a response called the Wells Report in Context last week.
