Roof Work to be Done on Town Hall

Town Hall will get a new roof in the near future.

Town Hall will receive a new roof while town officials go ahead with the process to build new down the road.

Addressing the many leaks in the roof, School Business Manager Bill Yukna told the selectmen last week that the town received three proposals ranging from $31,000 to $44,000.

“Whether it happens at this time or in the future, it’s still going to be a 2.5 to three year project. The roof needs to be addressed now,” Town Manager Bill Keegan said.

Town officials said that the leaky roof has been problematic for employees at Town Hall, where trash bins on desks and cabinets collecting rain becoming a regular occurrence during rain storms.

“It buys us three years of more time in the building,” Yukna said of the roof.

Yukna added that the funding is in place to fund a new roof. There is a line item in this year’s budget that does allow for repairs such as Town Hall’s roof.

The repairs will take about a week to a week and a half to complete.
