Sexual Assault Reported At Weymouth High School

WEYMOUTH, MA — An alleged sexual assault at Weymouth High School Monday is now under police investigation.

In a statement to parents, Superintendent Jennifer Curtis-Whipple and Principal Alan Stauss confirmed that a sexual assault involving a minor took place in the building Monday. The two said that Weymouth Police have been contacted and took action in accordance with the school's code of conduct.

"This is an unfortunate event and we want to be mindful of the possible effects that this may have on our students. To that end, we will have our guidance staff available to meet with any students who wish to meet with staff regarding this event," the statement read.

School committee Chairperson Lisa Belmarsh told the Patriot Ledger that the suspect is in custody.

Weymouth police declined comment, citing a policy that they do not comment on sexual assaults and incidents involving minors. Cases with sexual assault charges involving minors are often impounded and not made available to the public.
