Court Remains Silent On Timothy Norton Case

The teacher who lost his job over an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student was scheduled to appear in court this week.

STOUGHTON, MA — Will former Stoughton High School teacher Timothy Norton face charges for his alleged inappropriate sexual relationship with a student? That information has been hard to come by.

Norton was reportedly scheduled to appear in Stoughton District Court Tuesday for a clerk’s hearing. The hearing is held behind closed doors and is used to determine if charges in a case are called for. Since word broke that Norton was scheduled to appear in court, the clerk's office has remained tight lipped and has not released any information about whether Norton will face charges or if he even appeared in court for the hearing.

When Stoughton Patch recently inquired about Norton's scheduled appearance, an employee at the clerk's office said that they were not releasing any information about Norton before claiming that they had no information. The Enterprise and other local media outlets had no luck either and were told this week to stop asking about it.

School officials have not released any updates or comments beyond an October press release. Norton was placed on administrative leave Sept. 18 and resigned after being served with an "intention to dismiss" notice by the school district. The teacher was placed on leave hours after school administrators learned of the relationship with a student that continued after the student had graduated.
