Sage Teacher Awarded Department of State Fellowship

Sage teacher awarded department of state fellowship and the school hosts an educator from Uruguay.

Ms. Jennifer Tanner, a Spanish Teacher at The Sage School, has been selected as a recipient of a fellowship administered by the American Councils for International Education, a division of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (partner organization of the Commission for Educational Exchange - Fulbright Commission) of the U.S. Department of State.

Tanner, who is also Sage’s Foreign Language Department Chair and Secondary School Placement Coordinator, will travel to Uruguay for two weeks in July. This particular grant is an educator exchange, and as a reciprocal component, this week, Sage welcomes Ms. Leticia Collazo from Uruguay. She will be in the U.S. and at The Sage School until Feb. 16. The Educational Seminar: 2012 Uruguay Educator Exchange Program provides a short-term professional development opportunity for U.S. and Uruguay educators to share best practices on issues of mutual interest to their schools, students and communities.

During Collazo’s visit, The Sage School will be hosting its 2nd Annual International Night on Monday, Feb. 13. This event is designed for students and their families to celebrate the varied cultures of the school through multicultural food, activities, and performances.
