Scrabble Championship Comes to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough

WHO: More than 120 of the strongest School SCRABBLE players from the United States and Canada engage in a battle of words and wits at the 14th annual North American School SCRABBLE Championship (NASSC)! Two-player teams of students ranging from 4th – 8th grade compete against one another to see who will be crowned the next School SCRABBLE Champions. Winners take home the distinguished Champion’s trophy and a grand prize of $10,000.

WHAT: Hasbro, Mindsports International and the North American SCRABBLE Players Association (NASPA) welcome School SCRABBLE players for two days of tactical strategy and intense wordplay at the 2016 North American School SCRABBLE Championship. Players rack up their highest scores in 7 timed rounds of competitive SCRABBLE play, and teams are ranked based on their win-loss record and cumulative point spread. The top two teams go head-to-head in the ultimate Championship game projected throughout Gillette Stadium to see who will be declared the 2016 North American SCRABBLE Champions!

Adding to the competitive atmosphere and exciting tournament play, the NASSC will be held for the first time at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough Massachusetts, home of the NFL New England Patriots. Viewers from the USA and Canada can cheer on students from their own homes as they battle it out tile-by-tile and stay updated on the latest tournament action via the live online broadcast available on www.SchoolScrabble.us, beginning April 9 at 10:15am ET.
