Selectmen Approve New Town Hall Floor Plans
The plans call for a 16,500-square-foot building.

Floor plans for the new town hall were endorsed by the selectmen on Tuesday after a presentation from permanent municipal building and planning committee Chairman Bill Yukna.
Yukna told the selectmen on Tuesday that there were five plans discussed, three of which were considered by the committee before one was endorsed.
The floor plan calls for a 16,500-square-foot building, about 1,000 square-feet above estimates from the town hall working group but 1,000 lower than the KBA study according to Yukna. The current Town Hall is 13,600. Yukna said he estimated the cost of the building would be $422 per square-foot.

The new building will have a meeting room, storage area, two conferences rooms, two stairwells, an elevator, a vault, and office space. There will be room for additional growth for a few positions if needed.
While there is no exterior building design yet, it will be a colonial style building.

Parking will go in the front of the building, but there will be a decrease of 16 parking spaces from 78 to 62.
Floor plans and building designs are being created by LLB Architects, known for their work on the Boyden Library renovation.
In November, residents at the Special Town Meeting approved funding for the creation of plans for a new Town Hall.
The town will be required to ask Town Meeting for approval to build the two-story building.
