Selectmen Seats, Tenure for Town Clerk on Ballot in Foxborough Town Election

The polls for the 2015 Foxborough Town Elections at the Ahern Middle School will open at 7 a.m. today and close at 8 p.m.

Today, residents in Foxborough will choose their local town officials and whether one elected official should have tenure.

This year’s town elections will feature two contested races and a ballot measure.

In the selectmen’s race, voters have three options on the ballot for two seats. Chairman Lorraine Brue and incumbent Virginia Coppola are both running for re-election while Chris Mitchell is running as a first-time candidate. Both seats on the board are for a three-year term.

In the school committee race, Advisory Committee member Larry Thomas and Marilyn Weiss are vying to complete the three-year term of the seat vacated by Katie Adair earlier this year. Committee member Tina Belanger is also seeking reelection in a separate, non-contested race.

Voters will also decide if Town Clerk Bob Cutler will receive tenure. State law says that a town clerk that has held the position for a minimum of five years may petition for tenure. If voters approve the ballot question, the position of town clerk would remain off the ballot until Cutler leaves the position. Once Cutler is no longer the town clerk, the job becomes an elected position again.
