Everett Man on Motorcycle Struck Trooper Near Gillette Stadium: State Police

Police say the trooper was struck and suffered injuries.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — A Massachusetts State Trooper is in the hospital following an incident at a Gillette Stadium parking lot.

At about 4:25 p.m., the trooper was struck by a motorcycle while performing postgame traffic control duties at parking lot 8, a lot south of Gillette Stadium, according to the Massachusetts State Police. According to a preliminary police investigation, troopers on foot were attempting to stop Jose Perez-Rodriguez, 25, of Everett, who was operating a 2009 Ducati near an entrance and the P6 lot. In an attempt to flee from the troopers, the suspect allegedly drove against traffic and when he reached the P8 lot, a trooper attempting to stop the fleeing suspect was struck by the motorcycle, police said.

The trooper was transported to Boston Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. He was conscious during the transport, police said. His identity has not been released.

Perez-Rodriguez was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center with injuries. He is in police custody and is expected to face charges. The exact charges are subject to an investigation, police said. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

The incident is under state police investigation.
