A teenage driver crashed through a highway warning sign; police said the sign sliced him on the head.

Wrentham, MA — A teenage driver was sliced in the head after he crashed through a warning sign on Interstate 495 in Wrentham Tuesday, police said.

The 18-year-old from Tiverton, R.I. was driving a Toyota Corolla on the southbound side of the highway at about 7:45 p.m. and approached a construction zone but wasn't paying attention to the slowing traffic, according to police. As lanes merged, he slammed on the brakes but lost control of the vehicle and crashed through a sign reading "Right Lanes Closed Ahead." The sign crashed through the windshield and cut the teen on the head; he was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
