Town Officials Push for Changes at Walnut-Commercial Streets Intersection
For years, officials have asked the state to look at the dangerous intersection on Route 140.

After a car crash in late June, the intersection of Walnut and Commercial Streets showed again why it is one of the most dangerous intersections in Foxborough.
The rollover took place on the afternoon of June 28, resulting in three people obtaining non-life threatening injuries but showing the danger of crossing the high-speed area.
Planning Board Vice Chairman told the Sun Chronicle that the town lobbied for a traffic light for the intersection a decade ago, but the state will not add the light due to its proximity to the Route 95 off-ramp.

As a state road, the decision on what to do with that portion of Route 140 rests with the state.
Police Chief Edward O’Leary added that while there are not a lot of crashes at the intersection, there are personal injuries when they do happen.

Despite calls from public officials for work on the intersection, any changes are unlikely. If work were to be done, the state would likely want the town to pay for the costs according to DPW Director Roger Hill.
