Vacated School Committee Seat to Remain Unfilled Until May

The school committee seat once held by Katie Adair will remain vacant until May’s election.

The committee voted on Monday to not appoint a person to the seat and allow it to remain open until the town elections this spring.

With few meetings remaining before the election, the committee felt that it did not make sense to fill the seat given the small window of time.

In February, Adair left the committee after announcing her move from Foxborough to Plainville.

According to Tina Belager, the committee is obligated to fill the seat by state law but do not have to follow a specific timeframe.

In the race for the seat, only Advisory Committee member Larry Thomas has announced his candidacy.
