Video Game Lounge, E-Sports Complex Opening In Foxborough
The gaming center at Patriot Place will have hundreds of video games, some which are virtual reality, and an e-sports team.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — Patriot Place is getting a new spot for video game enthusiast to play some games and see some of the world's best compete on the international stage. Kraft Sports and Entertainment has partnered with Helix eSports to open an 18,000 square-foot complex with more than 100 computers, 30 gaming consoles and high speed internet infrastructure. The center will also offer entertainment packages including food, beverage and private rooms.
The complex opens in January where the Showcase Live music venue used to be. It will be open to the public daily for social, school, competitive and casual gaming.
"At Patriot Place, we always strive to provide our patrons with new and exciting offerings," Patriot Place general manager Brian Earley said. "E-sports is a rapidly growing enterprise and we are thrilled to announce this partnership with Helix eSports to bring this one-of-a-kind facility to Patriot Place for gamers across New England."

Helix also partnered with gaming company Saber VR to offer immersive virtual reality games games for the whole family. There will also be educational programs for the next generation of virtual reality architects and developers. The new complex will offer school and recreational leagues as well as STEM, e-sports and vocational education opportunities for middle and high school students.
The new complex will also host the practice facility for the Boston Uprising, New England's professional gaming team that competes in the game "Overwatch."During the 2020 Overwatch League season, the Uprising will host two home weekends at a Boston venue that will be announced at a future date.

"With the Uprising's move to Boston, we wanted to provide the team with a first-class practice facility and give our fans unprecedented access to their home team," Kraft Sports marketing director Jen Ferron said. "This new partnership with Helix eSports will accomplish both of these goals by providing our fans with access to our team and players through onsite events and appearances, while allowing the Uprising to practice from a state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Patriot Place."
