WEEI Host Suspended For Mocking Tom Brady's Agent's Heritage

BOSTON, MA — Former New England Patriots tight end Christian Fauria is the latest WEEI personality to get hit with a suspension for a lack of better judgement. Fauria, a member of the midday show OMF with Glen Ordway and Lou Merloni, will be off the air for five days after using a stereotypical Asian voice during an impersonation of Tom Brady's agent Don Yee.

"Earlier today during his show, Christian Fauria impersonated athlete agent, Don Yee in an insensitive and ill-conceived attempt at humor. We regret Christian’s commentary and we apologize to Mr. Yee and those offended by the segment. We do not support or condone Christian’s comments, and we have suspended him for five days effective immediately," WEEI said in a statement.

The show was on the topic of a recent Boston Herald story based on a fake source who claimed to be Yee but was, in fact, a WEEI caller.

The hosts read the texts between Borges and the fake Yee on the air, with Fauria taking the role of the fake Yee and using a stereotypical Asian accent.

"So much more fun that way," Fauria said over laughter from Ordway and Merloni.

Yee, who is Chinese-American, was born in Sacramento.

Fauria later apologized on Twitter for his act.

"Earlier today I made a horrible attempt at humor. In a segment during the show, I impersonated agent Don Yee in an insensitive and regrettable way. I want to publicly apologize to Don and anyone in the audience who heard it," Fauria said. "I have also reached out to Don directly to personally apologize. I have been disciplined by WEEI management and I fully support their decision."

For WEEI, it's another high-profile suspension. Online writer and occasional on-air talent Alex Reimer was suspended about a week before the Super Bowl for calling Brady's daughter an "annoying little pissant."
