A Taunton man was charged with drunken driving after police said his girlfriend jumped out his truck on their way home from Foxborough.

PLAINVILLE, MA — A Taunton man was charged with drunken driving over the weekend after police said his girlfriend jumped out his pickup truck on their way home from a night of drinking at Patriot Place in Foxborough. Joe Monsini, 25, was arraigned in Wrentham District Court Monday and pleaded not guilty to drunken driving, WHDH reported.

Around 1:20 a.m. Sunday, State Police were called to Interstate 495 southbound between exits 13 and 14 in Plainville for a report of a woman in the road with serious injuries. Police told WHDH the woman dove out the passenger-side window of Monsini's truck. Monsini was driving about 65 mph, police said.

The woman suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She is expected to survive. Police said Monsini stayed on scene, and state troopers discovered he was under the influence of alcohol. Monsini's blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit, police said.
