1 Person Injured, 7 Displaced By Early-Morning Fire In Framingham

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A man was injured and seven people are without a home due to a fire early Thursday morning near Framingham Center.

Firefighters responded around 4 a.m. to reports of the blaze at 9 Highland St., a two-story residential building. “Heavy fire conditions on the first floor” prompted a second alarm, but crews brought the flames under control within 45 minutes, Fire Chief Michael Dutcher said in a statement.

A 22-year-old man was brought to a hospital for evaluation and treatment of smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire has not been reported, and it remains under investigation.

The building is no longer habitable, Dutcher said. The American Red Cross is assisting residents who have been displaced.

Firefighters from Ashland, Natick, Southborough, Sudbury and Wayland provided station coverage in Framingham during the response.
