14 Framingham Coronavirus Cases, 1 Person Has Recovered

The number of positive coronavirus cases in Framingham has doubled since Friday.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The number of positive coronavirus cases in Framingham has doubled since Friday, bringing the citywide tally to 14.

Framingham entered the weekend on Friday with 7 positive COVID-19 cases. Three more were reported on Saturday. The other four were reported on Monday, according to city officials.

State officials on Monday took a new step to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Gov. Charlie Baker issued an advisory that all non-essential businesses should close by noon on Tuesday. However, the list of businesses allowed to stay open is lengthy, and includes places like supermarkets, gas stations, liquor stores, and almost any business connected to healthcare.

In Framingham, the city has closed some facilities like playgrounds and tennis courts. City Hall, libraries, and the senior center area also closed to the public.

Framingham officials also announced one positive note on the coronavirus situation on Monday: one person from Framingham who was diagnosed earlier this month has recovered from the disease.
