17 New Framingham Coronavirus Cases, 1 New Death

Framingham has had more coronavirus deaths over the last 12 days than in the entire month of August.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham has added 17 new coronavirus cases since the city's last update on Monday, bringing the 12-day total to 100 new cases.

Framingham also reported another coronavirus death, bringing the pandemic total to 125. Four people have died since Aug. 21, which is more than the entire month of August. No new deaths had been reported since July 31.

Subtracting people who have recovered from the virus, Framingham had 102 active cases as of Wednesday.

Last week, Framingham was named a "high risk" community by state health officials. That rating is due to be updated on Wednesday. Framingham may remain high-risk, but the state may also lower the rating if trends have changed over the last week.

A third free coronavirus testing site will open on Sept. 3 at the Staples headquarters, offering drive-up testing for the first time since a former testing site at Keefe Tech closed in mid-August. Framingham has two other walk-up test sites at the Amazing Things Arts Center and the South Middlesex Opportunity Council, which just opened on Monday.
