2 New Coronavirus Cases At Framingham Seniors Complex

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The number of coronavirus cases at a Framingham senior living complex has grown, the facility is reporting.

There are now three confirmed coronavirus cases in residents of the Shillman House along Edmands Road. The first cases was reported on March 27.

"We are saddened to share that we now have a third resident at Shillman House in Framingham who has tested positive for COVID-19," said Amy Schectman, CEO of 2LifeCommunities, which operates Shillman House. "Our thoughts are with the residents and their families, and we continue to do all we can to support them. We have shared this news with our staff, our residents and their families in the interest of full transparency and to remind everyone to remain vigilant."

Coronavirus, which health officials say poses an especially high danger for older adults, has been devastating senior living homes in Massachusetts and across the nation.

The coronavirus outbreak in the U.S. was first seen at a nursing home in Kirkland, Wash., outside Seattle. Recently, three residents of a rehabilitation center in Worcester died of the virus, plus more than 20 residents of the state's two soldiers' homes.

Shillman House is an age-restricted community for people age 62 and up.
