In 2023, A Record Number Response Calls For Framingham Fire Department

The Framingham Fire Department responded to more than 33,000 incident calls in 2023.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham Fire Department has never had a busier year than they did in 2023, officials said.

Officials had a record number of incident responses in 2023, totaling 33,023. Those calls varied from fighting fires to rescuing people to handling hazardous materials and to responding to medical emergencies.

"As we reflect on last year, we want to thank our brave and dedicated firefighters for their hard work and service to the [Framingham] community," fire officials said on social media this week.

"Our firefighters were always ready to face any challenge and protect the city."

According to fire department data, Engine 5 responded to the most calls with 3,175. Two others, Engine 1 and 3, responded to more than 2,500, and Engine 2 and 7 both responded to more than 1,500 incidents.

The city's five ambulances each responded to more than 1,400 incidents, with ambulances 1, 2 and 3 responding to more than 2,000 incidents each.

In total there were 14,136 emergency incidents in 2023, officials said.

EMS responses made up the highest number of those with 8,852 calls. Alarm activations were also high on the list, with 1,598 incidents.
