Academy of Women Achievers to Honor Carol Sanchez

Five women will be inducted into the YWCA Boston Academy of Women Achievers for demonstration of superior leadership and achievement Wednesday afternoon.

Tomorrow, June 15 at the 17th Annual Academy of Women Achievers Celebration Luncheon, Carol Sanchez of Framingham and four other women will be inducted into the  YWCA Boston Academy of Women Achievers for demonstration of superior leadership and achievement.

Sanchez, a CPA, is the founder and partner, Sanchez & Santiago, LLC, with offices in East Boston and Marlborough. Sanchez is a member of the Framingham Finance Committee. Sanchez is a member of the Massachusetts Society of CPAs. She has been a board member of the Center for Women and Enterprise since 2007. In 2006, she won the U.S. Hispanic Chamber and Latina Style magazine's Entrepreneur of the year.

Other honorees include: Boston Public School Superintendent Carol Johnson, Denterlein Worldwide president Geri Denterlein, BJ's Wholesale Club Inc. President/CEO Laura Sen and Nancy Tarbell, MD, C.C. Wang professor of radiation oncology, dean for academic and clinical affairs, Harvard Medical School; founding director, office for women’s careers, Massachusetts General Hospital.

Diddy Cullinane, founder of Black and White Boston Coming Together, will be presented with the Sandra B. Henriquez Racial Justice Award.

Anita Hill,  a professor of social policy, law, and women’s studies at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University in Waltham will be the keynote speaker at the luncheon.

The annual luncheon honors five distinguished and diverse Boston women for their leadership, professional achievements and civic commitment to empowering women, according to a press release. YWCA Boston’s Academy of Women Achievers celebrates women who have made significant contributions in their professions, and to social, racial and economic justice.

The luncheon begins at noon at the Westin Copley Place Hotel in Boston.
