A Freezer Broke At Daniel's Table. Framingham Is Rallying To Help Replace The Lost Food
Framingham's Daniel's Table lost 10,000 pounds of food when one of its biggest storage freezers stopped working. A fundraiser is ongoing.
FRAMINGHAM, MA — One of the summer's hottest days had big consequences for one of Framingham's most impact nonprofits.
"A few weeks ago, on one of the hottest days of the summer, our largest storage freezer stopped working. As a result we lost over 10,000 pounds of perishable food," Daniel's Table found David Blais wrote.
The message was disheartening for many in the community, but Blais ended the message with a bit of hope.

"But we know we can count on your generosity," he said.
So far, Blais was right.

First came the community response in person, when a number of people locally helped move items from the broken freezer, salvaging what they could.
Of course, given the size of the freezer, they weren't able to save everything. A fundraiser hopes to replace all of the food lost.
A $10,000 goal has been set for this Friday, and Daniel's Table has collected just over $8,800 from 84 donors as of noon on Thursday.
